A curriculum strategic plan of Dr. PDNI Amravati is a roadmap that guides the development and implementation of an educational curriculum. It outlines the vision, mission, goals, objectives, and strategies for ensuring the nursing curriculum is effective, relevant, and aligned with institutional goals.
To integrate strategic planning with curriculum, Dr. PDNI involves staff, students, and other stakeholders in developing curriculum outcome viz., program outcomes (POs), program specific outcomes (PSOs) and course outcomes (COs).
IQAC and Academic Council of Dr. PDNI guides the teachers of nursing departments regarding the POs, PSOs and COs. These are charted by the teachers in alignment with the MUHS syllabus, the core values and objectives of the institution. Ourteachers outline POs and PSOs for all nursing programs and COs for each course i.e., theory or practical subject.
After aligning POs, PSOs and COs, the respective teachers prepare course plan across all degree programs viz., BSC, PB BSC and MSC nursing courses.
The courseplan is designed to incorporate the teaching, learning and assessment strategies in such a way as to give enough weightage to each of the specified learning activities and attainment of outcomes. The aims of courseplan is- augmenting the quantitative and qualitative nature of the nursing degree offered, student-centric approach, providing vertical and horizontal mobility in ensuring career orientation, skill development, and integration of traditional teaching methods with advanced ICT enabled tools.
POs are statements about the knowledge, skills and attitudes (attributes) the students should have at the end of a nursingdegree. POs are broader statements that describe what the students are expected to learn and would be able to do after their nursingdegree. POs deal with the general aspect of graduation, and the competencies and expertise a graduate will possess after completion of the nursing degree.
These are the specific, measurable, and achievable abilities that students should gain or demonstrate by the time they complete a particular degree. They are a narrower focus compared to broader program outcomes (POs) and are tailored to the unique skills and knowledge needed within specific fieldor specialization within the program / degree course. Usually, there are 2-4 PSOs for a program.
COs are narrower andcourse-specific statements that describe what students are expected to know, and be able to do at the end of each nursing subject either theory or practical. These are statements that relate to the knowledge, skills, and attitude the nursing students acquire as they go through a specific subject within a nursing degree.
COs cover the subject related outcomes, and contribute to overall attainment of the POs. Each theory or practical subject usually designed to meet about 5–7COs set by the institution, by consulting with the department heads, faculty, students and other stakeholders.
